810 Teaching Understanding with Technology Fall 2011
Instructors: Jodi Spicer and Susan Wright

This was my formal introduction to technology integrated education. We were introduced to the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) framework as well as digital citizenship and how to create a PLN (Personal Learning Network) as well as creating an understanding of responsible digital citizenship. Most significant to me was the introduction of the Web 2.0 technologies. The one I still use as a resource is my RSS (Rich Site Summary) feed. The major project of the class was a group project introducing a Web 2.0 technology.

Here we looked at problems of practice, and how we could use sound learning theories to help to overcome these obstacles. One of the main projects was to find a problematic topic in my personal instruction and create a StAIR (Stand Alone Instructional Resource) to help facilitate the learning process. We also worked to creating a PLN (Personal Learning Network) to help us keep in contact with our educational community.

Instructors: Dr. Anne Heintz, Sandra Sawaya, and Rohit Mehta

The purpose of this class was to look at learning in an online environment. Specifically, we looked at the differences between online and face-to-face environments and how best to work toward a pedagogically sound online teaching. The major assignments were a reflective journal and the creation of a module for an online class.

817 Learning Technology By Design Spring 2015
Instructors: Dr. Danah Henriksen, Jonathon Good, and Carmen Richardson

This class looked at the design principles and how they apply to learning and education. The foundational process that we focused on was the Stanford Model of Design Thinking. We used this process to look at a problem of practice and worked our way through it over the course of the semester, which was the main project. We also completed a paper that synthesized the process we went through in the creation of our design project.

800 Learning in School and Other Settings Summer 2015

Here we looked at how people learn. A lot of the class consisted of looking at the background and history of educational philosophies in the U.S. We also focused on the learning theories that are currently the most accepted in the field of Education. One of the major projects was to create a digital representation of  learning in real-time and breakdown and identify the different phases. The other major project was an audio recording of an educator talking about how people learn.
